Bank CSV sanitizer.
Clean files, first try.
Bank CSVs come out messy — junk rows before the header, dates in three formats, debits and credits flipped, vendor names full of reference codes. This tool cleans them into a tidy Date / Description / Amount file that QuickBooks Online and Xero will accept on import.
Free tool from Tetra M Labs. Everything runs in your browser — your file is never uploaded anywhere. For full double-entry accounting with automatic reconciliation, see Point.
1 · Upload your bank CSV
Drag a file here, pick one, or paste CSV text. Your file is read locally in your browser — it is never uploaded anywhere.
No file handy? — junk header rows, mixed date formats, vendor codes, parenthesised amounts.
What it cleans
- Junk rows before the header. Account and statement-period lines above the column names are skipped automatically.
- Mixed date formats. ISO dates, DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, and month names (23 Oct 2026) are all normalised to one consistent format. If your dates are ambiguous, pick day-first or month-first yourself.
- Reversed signs. Parenthesised amounts (45.99), trailing minus signs, and separate Debit / Credit columns are all handled. If your bank exports money-in as negative, the “flip all signs” switch fixes it.
- Vendor junk. Reference fragments, asterisk codes, and bank type codes are stripped, and common merchants are normalised (AMZN MKTPLACE → Amazon).
- Bad rows are reported, never silently dropped. Rows with an unparseable date or amount are listed so you can fix them in the source file.
This tool is a helper, not a substitute for professional review. Amounts are treated as 2-decimal. Always check the preview and the import result in QuickBooks or Xero before relying on it.
